Sarah's Take: Paul Lo Duca

10-30-00

Although Paul Lo Duca did not play much with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2000, his presence was felt in every game he played.  In 34 games he batted .246 with two home runs and eight RBI. A catcher by trade Lo Duca learned to play outfield and third base to be more valuable to any major league team.  At every position he played well.  Since 1997 the Dodgers have not treated him fairly.  With Todd Hundley not re-signing Lo Duca may get the opportunity to get the daily catching job.  If the Dodgers do not want to give him the opportunity, they should trade him to a team that will value his skills.
